Prostate-7 is a blend of standardized plant extracts and nutrients designed to support prostate health.

Of the plant extracts the best known is Saw Palmetto, which has been shown in clinical tests to support prostate health, but there are others such as lycopene and pumpkin seed oil. All these extracts work on the same principle: they put a brake on the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. Excessive DHT production or sensitivity to DHT can lead to prostate enlargement and is a key factor in the growth and progression of prostate cancer.

Prostate-7 also contains Zinc and vitamin B6. Zinc plays a crucial role in the health of the prostate. Normal prostate tissue naturally contains a high concentration of Zinc, and although it has not been proven that Zinc reduces the risk of cancer, studies have shown that Zinc levels are markedly decreased in prostate cancer tissue.

Regarding vitamin B6, in a study of 525 men with prostate cancer published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that in persons whose tumors had not yet spread beyond the prostate at the time of diagnosis, those with the least vitamin B6 had a risk of dying of it nineteen times higher than those with the most B6. They did mention that more research was needed to confirm these findings.

In any case, taking Prostate-7 seems like a safe and sensible idea for men who are concerned with the health of their prostate.
